Dar Taliba – “Home for Female Students’’

Offering adequate boarding facilities and supervision

In Morocco, girls in rural areas are particularly vulnerable to dropping out of school. Due to the distance separating schools from their homes and their families' lack of means, they are the most severely impacted by geographical constraints. Facilitating access to education by bringing young people closer to schools has encouraged families to allow their children to continue their studies.

With Dar Taliba, the Foundation provides residential facilities located near schools. They offer suitable accommodation and supervision conditions for young people. These homes are built by the Foundation, with the contribution of various partners and are managed by local associations.

Dar Taliba facilities are equipped with basic infrastructure: dormitories, dining hall, lavatories but also sports, library and computer room facilities... Moreover, students are supervised by teaching staff and members of managing associations. Conditions are created for young people to thrive and devote themselves to their studies.

Contributing to furthering academic achievement

Initially designed for rural girls, the Dar Taliba program was expanded to include middle and high schools in rural areas. The program has also adapted to the way of life in nomadic regions by introducing community schools. Alongside support for school attendance, academic achievement was also promoted by encouraging access to higher education. Female student homes were thus also established in urban areas, near major university campuses.
